Reeves Painting tents the room, papers the windows, then paints.

Josh Reeves and his crew paint houses, cabinets and commercial buildings across Lindale, Tyler and Longview. Furniture moved, floors covered, switch plates off, and a walk-through before anyone calls it finished.

Brick ranch mid-repaint: brown masking paper over every window, cream gable panels freshly coated, a ladder against the eave

Outside, first

Every window papered before a brush touches the trim.

On this Lindale-area brick ranch the crew masked each window in brown paper, then coated the cream gable panels and the brown fascia. Seasonal weather, the color of the brick and the houses next door all go on their exterior checklist.

The exterior prep list

Straight off their own exterior page. Environmentally safe products, and the sweeping and washing clean-up at the end.

Before any paint

  • Power washing
  • Sanding and scuffing
  • Filling, repair and caulking
  • Taping and all prep work

Then the paint

  • Landscape, furniture and fixture protection
  • Rust removal on exterior metal
  • Surface priming
  • Sidings, windows, trims, doors and banisters

Inside, the whole room goes under plastic

Tented, bagged, then painted.

Furniture and fragile things move out of the work area. Floors go under drop cloths, never bedsheets, because paint soaks straight through fabric. Light fixtures get bagged, walls get tented in clear poly, and the ceiling is skimmed before a single coat goes on.

A ceiling light wrapped in a plastic bag so no paint or mud reaches it
Every fixture bagged.

The same entry hall after: walls painted cream around the leaded-glass door

Painted around 2013. Repainted April 2026.

13 years.

That is how long the first Reeves paint job on Rich Eaton’s house held up before he called Josh back to do it again.

“Josh and his crew at Reeve's Painting, originally painted our house around 2013. The paint was still in really good shape after 13 years. They repainted in April of 2026 and they did a fabulous job. The job was done on time, on budget and Josh and his team were very professional and very hard workers. Can't say enough about how pleased we are with their work.”

From their tips page

Paint advice they give away.

Buy a quart, paint a foam board, and move it round the room before you commit to a color. The rest of their list is below.

All of Josh’s tips
How much to buy
One gallon for every 400 square feet. Textured, rough or unprimed surfaces may take more.
Latex or oil?
Rub the wall with rubbing alcohol on a dry white cloth. If the paint softens and transfers, it is water-based latex. Never put one over the other.
After we leave
Wait at least 24 hours before furniture goes back into a freshly painted room. Allow 30 days before you wash the wall.
Taking a break
Cover the roller in plastic wrap and put it in the refrigerator so it won’t dry up.
